Virtus Et Scientia, LLC d/b/a,  Children’s Evaluation & Therapy Center, is a Lanham-based pediatric center that provides an array of screening, evaluation, therapy, and educational services (i.e., educational testing and academic and/or special education support, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and psychological services) for infants & toddlers and children in preschool through grade 12. We also provide comprehensive developmental assessments for young children. So that they are partners in the therapeutic or educational process, we also provide parent training and workshops.

We are an experienced provider that currently offers services onsite at our attractively decorated, child-friendly outpatient Center, as we also provide services at offsite locations including, but not limited to, the following:

  • 175 public, private, and charter school sites;
  • licensed preschool and day care centers and early childhood programs;
  • public/private agencies; and
  • community centers and private homes.

Over the past ten (10) years, members of Children’s Evaluation & Therapy Center’s team have staffed and/or directly/indirectly provided related services to Prince George’s County, Anne Arundel County, and Montgomery County public schools, and a host of Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia certified non-public ‘special education’ private and charter schools. We are a key and vital referral source for preschools, early childhood programs, school district infant & toddler programs, local pediatricians, hospitals & community agencies.

We’re Giving Back!

We are proud of and invested in Prince George’s County and the metropolitan area by “giving back” to the community. Through our local, Lanham-based office , we demonstrate that we care about our county and its residents. For example, for years now, Children’s Evaluation & Therapy Center has hired year-round Prince George’s County high school and Bowie State University students. They have been employed as Student Office Assistants and have not only provided administrative support at our Center, but they have also actively learned about cultural diversity and sensitivity. They have been exposed to various fields of study (i.e., speech pathology, occupational therapy, special education, psychology, business management) while learning work ethic, professionalism, and how to be responsible citizens. We also promote volunteerism and accept eligible student and adult volunteers who, after completing a formal orientation process, work alongside our Center staff.

Our Partnerships, Community-Based Training & Services!

Children’s Evaluation & Therapy Center has also given back to Prince George’s County and the metropolitan area through its partnerships with local universities. Specifically, for years now, we have accepted and trained student externs/interns from Bowie State University and Howard University.

Furthermore, Children’s Evaluation & Therapy Center has conducted FREE professional development training (with Continuing Education Units for Maryland licensure renewal) through our Clinical Roundtable program for professionals who are not affiliated with our Center.

Because knowledge and partnerships are powerful, we have offered community-based inservice training sessions for parents of children with special needs and educators. Children’s Evaluation & Therapy Center has provided such trainings by teaming with the University of Maryland’s and Prince George’s Community College Child Development Clinics, The Arc of Prince George’s County, and local preschools. Additionally, Children’s Evaluation & Therapy Center has directly impacted families and the community through its FREE speech-language screenings at such county-wide events as the local Kettering-Largo-Mitchellville Family Day, and First Baptist Church of Glenarden’s expansive Health Expo. Finally, Children’s Evaluation & Therapy Center has exhibited far reaching educational impact on families and the community by its participation in national radio broadcasts through the Silver Spring-based Radio One’s Village Talk.
